(Almost) back into it

Today's run: 5km, 35 mins 30 secs

This morning I watched the women's marathon at the Olympics on tv. Man, those women run literally twice as fast as I do, and for twice as far as I have ever run. Which brings me to what has been sitting at the back of my head for a little while.... I think one of the reasons why I have lost my mojo so badly is that what I really loved about training for and running a half was working towards a goal and achieving it... it wasn't so much about the running necessarily. My plan is to do the Central Coast Half in December, and then perhaps Canberra Marathon in 2009. Perhaps I am getting a little ahead of myself, but just aiming for another half doesn't have the same appeal to me. We will see how I go.

At least it got me motivated enough to get out the door to run the 5km to run to Dad's tonight for dinner!

City 2 Surf

Well I know it's amazing, but I ran the City to Surf on the weekend. Why amazing you ask? Because of my lack of running mojo and very limited training recently.

The only reason I ran was because I had convinced my uncle to enter with me. He runs for fitness but hates it, and wanted to do the C2S so he actually got something out of his running. His longest runs to date had been about 8km, so he did really well.

We ran together the whole way, I did it pretty comfortably and probably could have gone a bit faster, but really I wasn't out there for a fast run. Finish time was 96 minutes something. Actually that's not bad. My last C2S was 2 years ago - I had trained for it and did 99 minutes.

Whilst I enjoyed the run, I don't know whether it's going to be enough to get that mojo back. I'm thinking about the Central Coast Half in December but that's a while away. At the moment a big problem is fitting anything else in around work.

OK I'll stop whinging now.
